Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (MHN) is an idea in psychology proposed by American psychologist Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper “A Theory of Human Motivation” in the Journal Psychological Review. Maslow subsequently extended the idea to include his observations of human innate curiosity. (Wikipedia)

The theory states that humans are motivated to fulfill their needs in a heirarchical order as shown in the above pyramid. This order begins with the most basic needs before moving on to more advanced needs.

Self-actualization needs are the highest level on Maslow’s Pyramid of needs. These needs include realizing one potential, self-fulfillment, self-development, and peak experiences. Self actualization is the desire to accomplish all that one can do and unleash all potential.

In management, MHN provides one with a framework for supporting and enabling team members to feel healthy, happy, and fulfilled.

A man works hard for the stomach, yet having obtained food, he then thinks of clothing.

Having clothes, he then looks up and feels discontent with a small roof.

He built a big house, then finds missing at the bedside a beautiful wife.

He married a beloved wife,  then worries about missing a vehicle at the garage for a ride. 

Having purchased a vehicle with money, then finds a lack of personal driver.

Having employed a driver, and or housemaid, then he tyrannized for being a powerless rich man. 

Having been selected as head of an institution, he then finds the position too low in ranking and authority.

Having been risen to the position of highness or executive, he then thinks everyday of ascending🤣🤣🤣🤩😁 the highest post. 

Having ascended the topmost chair, he then wants to play sports with the elects. 

Having hailed at the sports' game, he then asks where the stairway to heaven is.

Unknowingly, before the stairway is even built, the highest heaven has already sent for the ghosts to take his life.

If it were not time for his death, he would still complain about the staircase's lack of height ! 🍏

“Seventy (70) years are given us! And some may even live to eighty (80). But even the best of these years are often empty and filled with pain; soon they disappear, and we are gone.”

We must all be aware of this number 70. All is destined to old age. And no one will disagree age climbs up the ladder every year. From time immemorial it is lucky for a man to live to seventy (70), or exceed to 80+ if a man has the strenght to continue living. All in God’s grace.

Examine the years of childhood and old age and there’s not much left between. Only save worries, pride, pain, and emptiness. All our days are filled with sighing. Is there anything in the universe but emptiness?

All seasons in the sand – spring, summer, autumn and winter are just a snap of the fingers. Hair has become white now, the flowers are fresh yesteryear and become dry. Changing colors are part of the process, like the morning dew and like the fragrance of candle light is the evening breeze. Why wait for tomorrow, when one can live today? Only to later understand emptiness.

“What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while, and then vanishes.”

Comes a season when the moon lacks brightness and a time when flowers lose their beauty. The shadow of how life ends. The next turning page is a new  phase of living that you will notice representing as the bell sees off the dusk and the cock announces the arrival of the dawn.

One must love life for it dwells in a short period of time. More regard to good health as the most important matter.  Say heaven isn’t far away to live a joyous life.

Seventy is the heaven’s numbered ticket to exit this world returning home!  A numerical threshold from womb to tomb. Shall one be held back by one’s tombs overgrown with weeds? Since one have already suffered owns heart, what can be gained from regret and sorrow? Don’t worry.

Instead, one must live joy today. It brightens the world with color and fills life with hope. Before home strech, one must allow life to be filled with a grateful heart. It is in fact the wisest attitude towards life. Who knows what tomorrow may brings?

In life’s journey, leave all Worries, Pride, Pain, & Emptiness behind. One must travel light. “Forget the age when one has  still a mission to achieve and a vision in life to accomplish .”

Age is just a number.  Know that life is more beautiful for a person to experience when getting old. Cheers!

As human being, it is natural to worry every now and then. Maybe this is caused by negative thoughts that come our way. Or anything that bothers our minds or feelings which usually creating fears and anxiety.

Everyday one is always pursuing  money, food, drinks, and clothing, at sundown causing nothing but worries to the mind.

One is sighing upon this delusory life, when will it’s long days finally end? Morning after morning of leisureless times, year after year’s unawareness of old age.

Look! Not even a hundred years old yet, one already bears a thousand-year load of worries. Having just recovered one’s own health, worries over his children and grand children nevertheless ensue.

There is hope in everything. After the rain, as one complain about how difficult it is to walk on the muddy road, why not look up and see that a starry night sky happens to be lighting up the path beneath your feet?

Let’s understand life to be happy, to not be calculative regarding what is true or false, gain or loss, fame or benefit, nobility or worthlessness, wealth or poverty. With that, worries and gloomy days will be gone with the wind.

Carol Kershaw, a Clinical Psychologist and author of a book, The Worry-Free Mind, said ” Next time you feel a bit worried, try smiling ! By holding a smile for a minute, you’ll find that your worry will begin to vanish.

Don’t worry! One can’t master his entire life in one day. Master the day, one day at a time, and then keep doing it everyday. 🏛️

WHY WORRY? 😄👇

“Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about things – food, drinks, and clothes.

For you already have life and a body-and they are far more important than what to eat and wear. Look at the birds! They don’t worry about what to eat – they don’t need to sow or reap or store up food – for your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are. Will all your worries add a single moment your life?

And why worry about the clothes? Look at the field lilies! They don’t worry about theirs. Yet King Solomon in all his glory was not clothed as beautifully as they. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won’t he more surely care for you, O men of little faith?

So don’t worry all about having enough food and clothing. Why be like the heathen? For they take pride in all these things and are deeply concerned about them. But your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them, and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live as he wants you to.

So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time.

On my way to prepare myself for the coming year.

Knowing the road to sustain livelihood is tough and life is seemed complicated nowadays. With high demand from works, activities are stressful and getting uneasy for one to move towards achieving one’s dream.

When going to a distance (the future), one must first traverse the space that is near and this is one’s physical body. It must be conditioned for one to survive – to live is to struggle and forward is the only direction in life.

💡A sound mind and healthy body is power!

“Today I have to prepare for my journey into the future. Health really matters. Gonna see my doctor, now”, I whispered to myself.

With my hands on both sides of the steering wheel drive of my car in motion at regular speed, on my way to a general health check-up.

At the clinic, I showed up myself slowly to see if my doctor was on duty. Yeah, she’s in. While waiting for my turn, my eyes progressively move around to the expansive view of the clinic area to comfort myself.

Now my turn, while sitting on the patient chair, I took a deep breath, and my doctor rocked back in her chair and got my blood pressure and her stethoscope dip running on my chest and on my back.

“It’s all normal”, she said.

I gazed my eyes on high with one finger pointing above saying softly, “Thank you Lord for my good health. Praise to your name, Oh my Lord… Amen.”

Now she requested me to do laboratory test for my uric acid, creatinine, fbs, sgpt, ecg, lipid profile, urine analysis and other items she would like to read concerning health status, and to make prescriptions on medication, if necessary.

While waiting for the results from testing room, she handed me the checklist a must for one to follow to achieve general healthy living:

🍏Sleep well and rise early. Don’t overeat. Exercise frequently.

🍏Smile more. Don’t worry. Keep busy everyday, and you’ll never age.

🍏To have good relationships, be sincere and humble.

🍏To have a good family, be caring.

🍏To have a good career, be diligent.

🏁To a great life ✔️

Many years ago, when I was working as Life Insurance Sales Trainer in one of the largest life insurance companies in the Philippines, aside from the basic system every agent must know in selling I always emphasized self-inventory guidelines on how to deal with a fragile situation since the business covers life, death, and investments benefits. Most often people are afraid to hear  the impact of ‘lossing life’ as a subject.

However, the outcomes of checking oneself is also applicable to every career in general. “Know thyself” before going to face every transaction in the trade.

Recently the mirror got dusty, it has never been polished before. Today is the day of evidence, there is a need in self-inventory. Consider the following:

🍏Be expressive, and remember to smile. Look your best. Appearance must be well presented and in one's outfit must be proper and neat. It gives one the courage and confidence, as if one put oneself in the hands of an expert. 

🍏Look upon others with compassion, and remember to care. Through compassion, one must expand the scope of love. When there is love there is care. If there is love and closeness among all people, how wide the world and universe would be. 

🍏Speak kind words, and remember to praise. This is one of the quickest ways to hold the confidence of others. Anything one speak must be credible. Remember this:"I will speak ill of no man-and speak all the good I know of everybody". 

🍏Be of service, and remember to help... When one do this, people will remember him. As the saying in sales goes, "Never forget your customer; never let your customer forget you." 

🍏Listen, and remember to identify the need. The importance of being a good listener, showing the other person you are sincerely interested in what he is saying, giving him all the  eager attention and appreciation that he craves and is so hungry for, but seldom gets. "There is an art in silence, and there is an eloquence in it too." - Cicero

All of us would profit by uttering this prayer every morning: "Oh Lord, help me to keep my big mouth shut, until I know what I'm talking about... Amen." 

🍏Bless others with your heart, and remember to respect all. A grateful person has affection and righteousness. That person has a generous heart. 🏛️

Check yourself!

Sometimes you are the toxic person. Sometimes you are the mean, negative person you're looking to push away. Sometimes the problem is you. And that doesn't make you less worthy.

Keep on growing. Keep on checking yourself. Keep on motivating yourself. Mistakes are opportunities. Look at them, own them, grow from them and move on.

Do better, be better. You're human. It's okay.

To start a day here is a fiction story written to herald the messages of Psalm 1 as the short letter and what happened in the place called Berea (Acts 17).  May one creates deep reflection from the message to find comforting path for the soul.

After the storm, around 3 o’clock in the afternoon while I was sitting alone on a bench not far from my garage, a spirit man came, tall with blond hair and white robes. He smiled and sit near at my side. He was very beautiful.

Of course, I wondered why he suddenly appeared and in my surprise I asked, “Who are you?”

I felt there was instant power flash as if electricity went out with the lightning bolts around, but there’s none I could see. Then he told me, ” I’m an angel who came from the future to tell yah the Lord was happy of what you were doing when He learned you collaborated with the people in Berea ‘who were more open-minded… and gladly listened to’ His messages. They searched the scriptures day by day to check up on his ministers’ statements to see if they were really so. As a result, many of them believed, including several prominent women and men.”

I felt comfortable and at peace with the angel man. He gave me a great new understanding and joy.

He said, “I command you to tell your brothers and believers, the Lord will always love you all and about this short  letter. “

“Always remember in your heart this Short Letter (Psalm 1) that I’m giving you today. Read it now”, he commanded.

"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.  

He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruits in season and whose leaf does not wither. 

Whatever he does prospers." 🏛️

After a short moment, he vanished like a smoke. In the following day I dared to read again the ‘short letter’ from the place where he talked by me in a cool and bright morning of TODAY.

Sharing this note to everyone, I personally may as well become enlightened in the here and now, and become friend ardently expecting to meet again. 🏛️

My dreams are worthless, my plans are dust, my goals are impossible. All are of no value unless they are followed by action.

Shortly after I finished college, I’ve got to experience one of the biggest shocks of my life. I was young, fresh blood, and ambitious then with high expectation – wanted to secure a job right away.

This is what  happened. First, I applied for a job in sales in a multi-national company, Carnation Philippines, but I failed.

I kept on trying to seize new possibilities.

Again, I failed in my second attempt at Procter & Gamble Philippines.

I moved on and forged a better path forward.

On the third, I hit the  mark ‘bulls eye’. The door of opportunity was opened to me by Rorer Philippines, an American Pharmaceuticticals company, the makers of the world’s leading antacid brand – Maalox.

My job search journey might have been different if I hadn’t gone to the hiring managers and asked why I wasn’t qualified. In fact, I wouldn’t have the rare privilege of writing this experience to share to you today.

Both of them said they didn’t hire me because I lacked enthusiasm to trigger a desired action to convince well in landing a job, a very important quality one must have in sales career.

Well, that was the last thing I expected from the hiring managers to say, so I initiated to prepare myself and with that I took actions to improve my weakness to get ready for the next round of engagement.

And I did it better. 🏛️

Here's what I learned from my story. Action is the fundamental key to success. 

💡One needs hardship. The more hardships and setbacks we experience, the more supportive conditions we will have.

💡One needs sacrifice and be dedicated. The more committed and willing to learn, the greater our potential in breaking our limits.

💡When frustrated, take action to work harder.

In the stillness of the day, people attach too much importance to gaining immediate results, like to eat instant noodles, wanting to master something in short days, or become a millionaire in a year. Everything is about “the sooner, the better.”

In the stillness of the day, why in a hurry? When you forget the value of life in its truest putsuits.

Consider this story :

‘One day, a young man saw an old man. He was curious and asked, “Sir, can you tell me how old you are?” With a smile, the old man replied, “Oh! I am four years old.” As it turned out, the old man was already in his eighties, but had only discovered life and found its real meaning four years ago. ‘

In the stillness of the day, being a four-year-old man is not distressing. What is pitiful is speaking of the illusory in a dream, and assume the false as real, just like the Paper Roses existing one as beautiful flower without scent or but fake.

In the stillness of the day, I admire the beauty and glamour of real roses. However, I love the elegance of lotus. “How it grows out of the mud untainted, how they dance among clear ripples without any sense of temptation. The stem is hollow yet erect, blooming in an untrespassing, but converged manner”.

In the stillness of the day, be like a lotus with ever refreshing scent, standing erect and serene, that delivers coolness to the stream of summer heats. It is something to be appreciated from distance.

With all sophistication time passed by swiftly. It flies and I’m the pilot. I’ve been trying my best to live with no regrets of the past. I savoured every moment – the time of happiness, sorrow, success, and failure. What becomes of the soup in the bowl I across throughout my existence, show incurable grievances deep as the ocean? All events that I encountered gave a sentimental mark of remembrance in my heart and delicately felt just like enjoying a walk under a pouring hard rain or enduring the heat of a sunny day wearing a smile. But now, it’s fading when bravery covers my intentions to grow.

I permitted to stay those traces of dreams desired, drafted, and worked for during those days gone by. Nothing but true, all soul’s encountered gives passionate meaning to life I know. I must love. The cool breeze in the refreshing wind blows away the fiery fear and anger so that all is in harmony.

I became brave with all the odds passing by I met. Raising my fingers to hold my limitless dreams. I have my own little fantasy and trusted instinct, they’re a part of seasoning to dare and hopeful for the things I favored to come. Sticking firmly to my commitments to continue strive even harder to realize unending mission to make people smile as tidbit of their humbled aspiration to design a beautiful life.

All in all, after carefully handled, refined, or fixed all matters that barred my capability to win will be transformed into faith & courage. They oiled my machinery to run smoothly. Ready for the next steps to move forward. I will, in this way, find more understanding and strength to face reality. Thus, I became brave in all circumstances.

This time around I’m ready to face the challenges to come anytime of day. I’m bold and brave, having a strong conviction to win and believe something morally correct is coming to grab on.

My ageless youthful spirit inside me declares that I’ve grown so much inside. Made  to last and none to dismay. Pigments of bad traits are ruined. Never be shaken again because I’ll never trust fear. It doesn’t know my hidden strength that I possessed. Today, the best part of my life is I’m brave.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the top position for large business organization responsible for implementing existing plans & policies, improving the company’s financial strength, supporting ongoing business transformation & setting future strategy.

“You didn’t have to wait long if you have some strategic plan to counter a terrifying situation our company is holding now – stock drop, wiping out shareholder value, and debt-to-equity ratio exceeding high percentage. Our bonds were rated scrap. We’re running out of cash. Definitely, this company may fall soon“, the chairman explained to the CEO.

The CEO seeked some refresher course on management discipline to review the classics, including Drucker, Porter, Deming, and Peters to back the finding solution for recovery. And it didn’t take long. The existing CEO resigned at this point of vulnerability.

Then, the Board Of Directors (BOD) decided to look for a change agent and to go outside. “Before this enterprise comes to collapse, we need a team player to revolutionize this entity to return to greatness. Probably, the last CEO – decisive, brave, bold, visionary, and persuasive.”

The new lady CEO came in probably a little bit of last resort, with a mission to rebuild the business empire.

“We recommend tough cost cutting and kill the existing culture we are all standing on. It burns the companies platform and soon to die.”, tbe BOD mouthed.

And the lady CEO stand up, and said, “No. I am the culture. If I can’t figure out how to bring the culture with me, I’m the wrong person for the job.”

Finally, the enterprise grew impressively and  recovered by the last CEO. When she was interviewed by Top Business Magazine, she banked on saying, “The path to recovery lies first and foremost in returning to sound management practices and rigorous strategic thinking.”

💡It is important to discover and develop the treasure within our minds. Be gentle! Gentleness is sure to be victorious even in battle, and firmly to maintain its ground. 🏛️

Thank you Lord for this Christmas. Another year is added to my life. I thank you LORD for my birthday today, Dec. 21st.

I’m grateful for giving me abundance of wisdom, plentiful basket of treasures, and spirit to serve by sharing inspirational stories to every person I meet.

I know that by sharing uplifting messages I am also motivated to live a happy and prosperous life.
