AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE BIG BOSS MAN

Loyalty is in essence a lifestyle. It is a responsibility not a choice. Many people just mouth loyalty, but it’s not a reality in their life. Our supreme act of loyalty starts with a G-I-F-T.

G stands for God, I, for ourselves, F, for family and T, refers to time.

I REMEMBER YOU Β¦ ELVIS PRESLEY

Loyalty is the word that exactly express the thought of devotion, faithfulness, loving-kindness, and loyal love. It contains more than the thought of tender regard or kindness stemming from love.

πŸ’‘I remember one instance in my career journey that I made mention the word loyalty during the last phase of interview for a position as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

After passing the panel, I was brought by the HR Manager to the Chairman, the “big boss man”. I met the man in friendly and informal business chat. That’s the way he wanted to happen inside his office, we sit, laughed, and exchanged great ideas to cherish over a cup of coffee.

“What do you have for me, Rod?”, the chairman asked.

“With me is my loyalty?! “, I replied. He looked at me plainly  straight to my sincere eyes. He smiled, and he may be thinking of the rose indulging in the vanity of an instant beauty.

And he asked me again, “What can you do for me, Rod?”

And I replied with respect, “Given the chance, I will make business to grow, sir! I will make moves to preseve its glory against the test of time.

I left the executive room after a short deliberation of personal talk with the chairman. Outside, in the lobby, while waiting for the outcome, I asked myself, “Did I show respect to the big boss man? Did I show him lovingkindness and of my genuine intent?

Ten minutes must had passed, the hiring manager came to me and pronounced – “You are in.”

Yes,I whispered to myself, and as if I felt the sea breeze blowing, drifting the boat loaded with my dreams across the path of the ocean of time into the future.

And then I walked tall, ready to execute planned agenda to be realized, to transform the challenges to come in the way into the warmth of the sun and the coolness of the breeze, and embrace the merits of bountiful rain and dew cultivating every effort to blossom and bear fruits. 🍏

LOYALTY (A Poem)
by Elbert Kim Hubbard

If you work for a man, in heaven's name work for him, speak well of him and stand by the institution he represents.

Remember, an ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness.

If you must growl, condemn, and eternally find fault - resign your position,

And when you are outside, damn to your heart's content - but as long as you are part of the institution, do not condemn it.

If you do, the first high wind that comes along will blow you away, and probably you will never know why. "

Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us, for he cannot disown us who are part of himself, and he will always carry out his promises to us.
